Parent Workshop

Summer, Siblings, & Screens

There’s no time like summer to give us a flashback of quarantine and all that time together with siblings and screens. I’m a glass-half-full kind of person, though, so I like to think of summer as an opportunity for our neurodivergent kids to grow and mature away from the academic stress of the classroom.

Summertime can bring too much downtime though which can lead to conflict with siblings and stress over too much screen time. If these things are already on your mind, this workshop is for you!

In this workshop you will learn:

  • Ways to foster your child’s motivation and interests this summer away from the stress of school
  • When and how to schedule separate sibling activities and when to work on collaborative play and teamwork at home
  • Helping siblings understand each other’s differences, especially when there are different expectations for one sibling due to a skill weakness
  • Teaching siblings to repair conflict without the empty “I’m sorry”
  • Understanding all the different types of screen use, when screens can be used effectively for downtime, and strategies for setting up boundaries around screen
